HOW TO PACK A SHOEBOX HERE           HOW TO SEND A SHOEBOX
1. Find an empty shoebox (standard size, please). You can wrap it---lid separately--if you like, but wrapping is not required.
2. Decide whether your gift will be for a boy or a girl and the age category: 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14. Cut out the appropriate label from the back of an Operation Christmas Child brochure of download the label from their website, tape it on the top of your box and mark the correct age category.
3. The first ingredient to pack in your shoebox is PRAYER (1John 5:14). Then fill the box with new toys, school supplies, non-liquid hygiene items and hard candy. In a separate envelope you may enclose a note to the child and a photo of yourself or your family. (If you include your name and address, the child may write back.)
4. IMPORTANT: Include a check for $5 or more to help cover shipping and other costs. Make checks payable to Samaritan's Purse; note on the memo line that the gift is for "Operation Christmas Child." If you pack more than one box, you can make one combined donation in a single envelope. Place the envelope on top of the gift items inside your shoebox so it is clearly visible. Place a rubber band around your box and lid.
5. National Collection Week will be November 14-21, when boxes will be collected at more than 1,800 locations across the United States. To find a convenient place and time to drop off your shoebox gifts, call (800) 353-5949 or visit www.samaritanspurse.org.
